Warning Description: Winter Weather Advisory
Warning Date: 4:29 am EST on January 6, 2009
WarningSum:...Winter Weather Advisory In Effect From 3 Pm This Afternoon To
6 Am Est Wednesday...
Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory...which is in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to
6 am EST Wednesday.
The onset of precipitation looks to be in the form of some light
snow after noon. As the atmosphere warms above the surface this
afternoon the light snow will begin to mix with and change over to
freezing rain. Expect to see occasional freezing rain to continue
through the evening. After midnight temperatures may warm enough
to change the freezing rain to rain....but freezing rain will
persist the longest over northwestern Pennsylvania.
Some ice accumulation will occur...it should be around a tenth of
an inch. Untreated roads and sidewalks will be slippery. Some ice
accumulation on trees and power lines may also occur.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory is normally issued for a variety of
winter weather conditions such as light snow...sleet... and freezing
rain. While the weather will be significant...the word advisory
implies that severe winter weather is not anticipated. Stay tuned
to NOAA Weather Radio and other radio and TV stations for further
details or updates.
